A Piece of Washington, D.C. Rail History

This is an image of an bond from the Washington Terminal Co. The Washington Terminal Company was formed by the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad to construct and then operate Union Station in Washington, D.C. By forming a separate company the rivals were able to come to a fair and impartial way to fund and control the station. This was a 40-year bond from 1905 that came due in February 1945.
