Benefits of of Supporting DCNRHS

There are many benefits to supporting DCNRHS.

  1. Provide support for educational projects, restoration projects, preservation initiatives.
  2. Electronic subscription to Chapter’s newsletter The Timetable, the official monthly publication of the DCNRHS
  3. First-priority/advance notification for many DCNRHS trips, tours, events, and excursions.
  4. Discounts on selected DCNRHS trips, tours, events, and excursions.*
  5. Discounts on most DCNRHS sponsored private rail car trips.*
  6. Volunteer opportunities.
  7. Many more …..

Most importantly, you will get the opportunity to meet, socialize, and work with other people who are also interested in railroads and their history. DCNRHS has members from all walks of life. Membership  provides a chance to learn and have fun at the same time. If you like doing things hands on, there are lots of opportunities to serve on committees or to organize trips. Your participation in activities and elections will have a direct impact on the success of our programs.

*Reservations purchased before a membership is processed will not have the difference refunded.

Membership Cost is determined by you...

Any individual or family who donates to the society will be members of DCNRHS. It’s that simple…if you want to join us as a DCNRHS member, all you have to do is make a donation that fits your pocketbook and reflects your personal level of commitment to our mission and goals.

And determining that level of commitment is a challenge that is totally up to you. Instead of agreeing to a level of support pre-determined by the DCNRHS, you decide how much your membership is worth. With your donation, you actually become a DCNRHS “volunteer” like the officers and directors; the mechanical and service crews who maintain and operate our railcars; the authors and editors of the Timetable; the educators and librarians who maintain the expanding collection housed in the Martin F. O’Rourke Memorial Railroad Library; and the rail historians, published authors, and others who share their experiences and knowledge at our monthly public meetings.

Your donation is tax deductible to the maximum extent permitted under the law.

NOTE: Our primary delivery medium for our newsletter is the Internet (e-mail). For those members wishing to receive a hard copy newsletter, it is an additional $35.00 per year to receive it (1 per household) – to do this sign up for Stationmaster Dues.  The $35.00 does not include a donation.

DCNRHS is family friendly. A family member is defined as a spouse, children who are your dependents, or other individual living in the same household as you.

DCNRHS no longer collects dues for our national organization.

Our dues expire on December 15th, and renewal season begins September 1st.

We also allow organizations (corporations, museums, libraries, etc) to join DCNRHS at the same rate structure and same benefits as an Individual/Regular member.
