DCNRHS Announces Temporary Closure of Library
The Washington, D.C. Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, Inc. regrets to advise you that the Martin F. O’Rourke Memorial Railroad Library’s collection is currently closed for access until further notice.
The physical library which was in Bowie, MD at the Huntington Railroad Museum site within the Bowie Railroad Tower has been permanently closed. The City of Bowie Maryland notified us earlier this summer that we need to vacate the location by 30 September 2025. The City plans to use the location in the base of the Tower for storage.
DCNRHS is in the process of seeking a new home for our library collection. In the interim the collection will go into temporary storage.
