Projects
DCNRHS is an educational organizational. Our projects are our Chapter’s contribution to expanding the public’s knowledge of railroading, educating our youth, preserving railroad equipment and artifacts, and providing the opportunity to experience railroading first-hand. Choose an item from the Projects menu to learn more about some of our projects. A few are highlighted below.
Other efforts…
- Pullman Porter Education and Character Representation – We provide talks on the role of Pullman Porters to include at times costumed characters
- Rail history promotion and information services – We frequently provide advice, information, and materials to local and regional organizations for rail history displays. Recently we have assisted with displays at the Alexandria Lyceum, Alexandria Union Station Rededication, Huntington Railroad Museum in Bowie, Maryland, and the New York State Museum. We also on occasion provide advice to local governments.
- Internet Resources – We provide information on Union Station, local great places to watch trains, and regional rail information. Through our web site we answer many questions about railroad history for the public at large.
- Public Programs – we provide monthly educational programs about rail related topics.
- Internships in Accounting
